Piraeus Mayor Yiannis Moralis highlighted the long-standing collaboration behind the initiative, describing it as “a powerful alliance of solidarity” that has been active in the city for years. He underscored the importance of repeated efforts throughout the year, noting that such actions have become a defining strength of Piraeus.
Vasilis Vasileiadis, president and CEO of the Karaiskakis Stadium, pointed to Marinakis’ consistent presence in times of need. He noted that 150 care packages were being delivered to the municipality’s Social Grocery, alongside a donation supporting the Easter meal. In addition, 1.5 tons of meat—including 150 lambs—are being distributed to families in need.
Amid rising living costs, Vasileiadis observed, more people are turning to the Church for support, making such contributions all the more vital. He also highlighted the participation of Olympiacos players in the distribution effort, as well as additional financial support provided to clergy not covered by state payroll.
