OOCL Q1 2026: Revenue falls 7.6%

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) posted liner revenue of $2.14 billion in the first quarter of 2026, down 7.6% from the same period last year, as falling freight rates offset modest volume growth.

Total liftings rose 1.7% to 1.997 million TEU. Loadable capacity grew 4.3%. However, the overall load factor fell 2.1 percentage points. Average liner revenue per TEU dropped 9.1% year-on-year.

The Trans-Pacific trade took the hardest hit. Liftings fell 5.9% to 523,385 TEU while revenue plunged 16.8% to $744.8 million. Asia-Europe was the bright spot. Liftings jumped 11.8% to 384,893 TEU, though revenue still slipped 4.5% to $481.9 million. Trans-Atlantic liftings edged down 1.3% to 133,910 TEU with revenue off 4.3% at $163 million. Intra-Asia and Australasia held up best, with liftings up 2.9% to 954,464 TEU and revenue broadly flat at $748.7 million, up just 0.7%.

The figures are based on unaudited internal management accounts.
