Evergreen and PIL to launch new Far East–South Africa service
Evergreen and Pacific International Lines (PIL) are set to launch a new Far East–South Africa Express (SAF) service by the end of June, strengthening connectivity between Asia and the African continent.
The new service will be operated with a fleet of nine vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 5,500 TEU, aiming to provide enhanced frequency and reliability across the trade lane.
The SAF rotation will include calls at key ports in Asia and Southern Africa, starting from Shanghai and continuing to Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Shenzhen (Shekou) and Singapore. The service will then proceed to Durban and Cape Town before returning to Singapore and completing the loop back in Shanghai.
The introduction of the SAF service is expected to support growing trade demand between the Far East and South Africa, offering shippers improved transit options and expanded capacity on the route.
