Ellerman updates iPEX 2 service with new hull call
Ellerman City Liners has updated its iPEX 2 service with a new Szczecin–Hull–Szczecin rotation, strengthening shortsea links between Poland and the UK.
The company replaced Teesport with Hull as the UK discharge port. Teesport is now served through Ellerman’s BALTEX service launched earlier this year.
Ellerman said the change responds to growing demand for direct and reliable access to UK distribution markets.
The updated service will provide two weekly sailings from Poland to the UK. The first vessel will depart Szczecin on 9 May and arrive in Hull on 14 May.
The iPEX 2 service also offers fast transshipment connections into Portugal, supporting wider cargo flows across Europe.
Hull provides closer access to key logistics hubs in Northern England and the Midlands, including Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Doncaster, Nottingham and Birmingham.
Ellerman said the new call will shorten inland transport distances, reduce logistics costs and improve delivery times for UK importers and Polish exporters.
Peter Andrews said the move to Hull improves cargo access to major UK distribution corridors and increases planning reliability.
The updated service complements Ellerman’s weekly Viasea call at the Port of Immingham following the acquisition of the Norwegian shortsea operator in November 2025.
Associated British Ports Commercial Manager Iain Barnett said the expanded network increases frequency and connectivity for shippers using Humber ports.
Ellerman added that the service uses non-congested ports and terminals to maintain schedule reliability and stable weekly capacity.
The company also said the shortsea route can cut CO₂ emissions by more than 50% compared to road transport alternatives.
