Eimskip appoints Elísa Dögg Moraitis Björnsdóttir as EVP of Iceland Domestic Operations

Eimskip has appointed Elísa Dögg Moraitis Björnsdóttir as Executive Vice President of its Iceland Domestic Operations division, strengthening the company’s executive management team.

The division oversees Eimskip’s land transportation and distribution centres, warehousing and cold storage operations, as well as facility management activities, employing around 400 people across 16 locations throughout Iceland.

Elísa brings nearly two decades of experience within the Eimskip Group, having joined subsidiary TVG-Zimsen in 2006. During her career she has held a number of leadership positions, including Head of the Specialized Solutions Department for sea freight, Manager of Sea and Air Freight, and, since 2020, Managing Director of TVG-Zimsen.

She also serves as Chair of the Board of North Atlantic Agency and sits on the boards of Eimskip Greenland and Gára ehf., both subsidiaries of Eimskip.

Commenting on the appointment, Eimskip CEO Vilhelm Már Thorsteinsson said Elísa’s operational knowledge and leadership experience would support the continued development of the domestic division.

“I am confident that her knowledge of and experience with the Company’s operations will prove invaluable in building on a strong foundation and further developing the division into a more commercially and service-driven unit,” he said.

Elísa said she looks forward to leading the division and further strengthening its commercial focus.

“Eimskip has strong operations and outstanding employees across the country. I look forward to building on the solid foundation that has been established, further strengthening sales and customer service, and supporting the Company’s continued growth and development,” she said.

Elísa will formally assume the role in the coming weeks, succeeding Edda Rut Björnsdóttir, who will support the transition process.
